BREAKING — National Mortgage News reported that NEXA has acquired UMortgage, with the deal bringing on Anthony Casa as an executive partner. Under the arrangement, all of UMortgage's roughly 275 employees will remain in place, including its 246 loan officers and CEO Casa, who had previously been at odds publicly with NEXA's Mike Kortas. The combination folds a substantial originator network and its leadership into a larger platform, preserving the existing workforce rather than trimming headcount.
For originators and borrowers watching consolidation reshape the retail channel, this kind of move can unsettle the relationships and processes that keep loans moving. loantrust.ai works in that environment as an Atlanta-based brokerage where one licensed MLO personally packages each file, with no call center in between. The shop structures financing around DSCR programs for rental properties, fix-and-flip and bridge capital, new-construction draws, multifamily term loans, and bank-statement qualification for self-employed borrowers, alongside conventional, FHA, VA, and refinance products for homeowners. That setup keeps the file with the same person from intake to submission, which becomes more relevant when large-platform turnover or policy shifts start affecting how loans get handled elsewhere.
Stability in origination matters most when the market is churning through mergers and leadership realignments. A borrower or investor who has seen their point of contact disappear into a reorganization, or their loan handed to a rotating queue, faces real friction at exactly the wrong moment. loantrust.ai's model of single-point packaging and investor-focused program design addresses that friction directly, not by promising scale, but by removing the handoffs that scale often introduces.
